A delegation of dignitaries from the Jilin Province in North West China visited Hudson County. The topic discusses were economic development and international trade. Freeholder Chairman Anthony Romano greeted the visitors warmly and gave a brief history of our area. Bill LaRosa – Director of Tourism for Hudson County spoke about places of interest and the Super Bowl. Maria Nieves – President of the Hudson County Chamber spoke about business development, Elizabeth Spinelli Director of Hudson County EDC discussed green initiatives and development and Alan Lambiase – Executive with River Terminal Development in South Kearny discussed business development opportunities.
The group went on to tour the northern New Jersey region.

On November 14, 2013 an event was held to present the “Economic Opportunity Act of 2013” and The New GrowNJ program. The speakers were County Executive Tom DeGise, Freeholder Bill O’Dea, Ted Zangari of Sills, Cummis & Gross, P.C. , and Paul Ceppi of the NJ EDA. The discussion centered on the changes to the current incentives and gave an overview of the benefits associated with the new rules.
A greater effort on business attraction with the New GrowNJ program will enable New Jersey to compete for the consideration of the national site selectors when they are determining the best location for their clients.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion and exchange of ideas and information.

With new health insurance marketplaces opening soon, the Small Business Administration and Small Business Majority are excited to announce the next set of Affordable Care Act 101 weekly webinar dates.
Each week, small business owners can learn the basics of the Affordable Care Act and how they can enroll in small business health insurance marketplaces. Other topics discussed include insurance reforms, the small business health care tax credit, and employer shared responsibility provisions.
SBA representatives help small business owners understand the facts of the Affordable Care Act so they can make informed decisions about providing health insurance for their employees.
